Yangdong Folk Village is the largest village in Korea, which retains the traditional culture and nature of the Joseon Dynasty, and was formed by the Wolseong Son and Yeogang Yi Clang Yi Clan.

 

The entire village was designated as a cultural asset (Important Folklore Material No. 189), as it contains many cultural assets such as national treasures, treasures, and folklore.

 

 

Prince Charles of England also visited the site in 1993 due to its large number of attractions, including the size and preservation of the village, the number and tradition of cultural assets, and the beautiful natural environment and unspoiled locality.If you look at the natural environment of Yangdong Village, the mountain ridge stretches from Munjangbong Peak of Seolchangsan Mountain, which is the background and main mountain of the village, forming a water-shaped landscape of ridges and valleys. Each valley and ridge has a total of 160 high-priced houses and thatched houses with a 500-year-old scent, including uninhabited houses. In addition, 54 ancient Korean houses, which are more than 200 years old, are preserved with the glorious traces of prestigious universities and the lives of their ancestors, giving a glimpse of the diverse and distinctive structure of Korean traditional houses since the mid-Joseon Period.

 

 

 

It is recommended to identify the layout of the village and the course of the survey in advance, check the location of the cultural assets, and then explore them. However, it would be better to look around the village so that it would not be a nuisance to the people living in the house.

On July 31, 2010, Andong Hahoe Village and Gyeongju Yangdong Village were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites as "Korean Historic Villages."
